Every one of them has made an indelible mark on me and served as a wellspring of amusement, inspiration, and insight throughout my life.

1. All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
Edward Berger has adapted Remarque’s anti-war novel into a German film over a century after the film version directed by Luis Milestone and awarded the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Those who survive, whether they were simple lads, cannon fodder, or survivors, emerge as broken men. The emphasis placed on color and light amplifies the impact of the images depicting the ugliness and brutality of battle. The movie emphasizes over and over again that war is the senseless slaughter of innocent people.

4. Compartment No. 6 (2021)
The train is one of the most iconic symbols of transition, travel, and departure in cinema, and it has frequently played a significant role in the plots of traditional Russian tales. Another movie that takes place in Russia and takes place aboard a train is “A Road in Russia.”

Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” depicts a golden, shimmering 1970s San Fernando Valley that seems too fantastical to be real. It’s the kind of place where anything could happen as the sun sets, thanks to the long, magical walks people take there and the sense of discovery they feel as they explore every alley and side street.
7. Mother (2009)
There are hints of some of Bong Joon-later ho’s work in his earlier picture, The Mother, which was directed by Bong Joon-ho (who also directed Parasite). The plot of the story is around a woman who, in an emotionally charged manner, investigates potential leads to prevent the murder of her son and finds herself thrust into a world of anarchy and upheaval.
Towards the very end of the movie, Bong presents all of the harrowing moments in an unflappable and uncomplicated manner. The performance given by Kim Hye-ja is one of the reasons the movie is so good.
Kim Hye-Ja plays Hye-ja, a long-widowed mother who raises her son Do-jun on her own (Won Bin). Do-jun is 28 years old, but he doesn’t have the mental capacity of someone his age, which may account for his many out-of-the-ordinary traits.
Do-jun stumbles out of a bar late at night and makes his way home. On his way home, he follows a schoolgirl into an alley, where he is eventually driven away by a huge rock. Do-jun, upon returning home, continues his routine of sleeping on the floor next to his mom.
A murdered high school girl and a golf ball with Do-name jun’s engraved on it are found by the police the following day. Do-jun is quickly arrested for the murder based on this scrap of evidence.
Do-only jun’s mother, Hye-ja, refuses to consider a plea bargain that would reduce the sentence against her only son by four years. Since she has no other choice, Hye-ja takes the initiative to defend her son’s innocence.
8. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On (2021)
A seashell that only has one eye; using its soft voice, it single-handedly saves and brings to a close a mockumentary comedy that runs for ninety minutes. Marcel takes a number of observations, hypotheses, and inquiries regarding society and weaves them together, tying them together with wit and charisma along the way.
Isabelle Russelini provides the voice of Marcel’s grandmother, Kani, in the film. The relationship that exists between Marcel and his grandmother is one of the film’s strongest points, and Isabelle Russelini’s voice serves to bring this relationship to life. A nomination for an Academy Award in this category has been submitted for the movie.
Charming Marcel, a shell only an inch tall, lives with his grandmother Connie and their pet lint, Alan. They used to be part of a large community of shells, but now they’re the only ones left after some sort of tragedy.
However, when a documentary filmmaker finds them in the chaos of his Airbnb and posts a short film online, Marcel suddenly finds himself with millions of devoted fans, unprecedented dangers, and renewed hope of reuniting with his long-lost family.

9. Petite Maman (2021)
A straightforward tale that is still endearing and enchanted, revolving around moms and their daughters. The film is marked by dual mysteries of past and future recollections, and its style is evocative of famous works of English literature such as “The Midnight Garden” by Philippa Pearce or “The Child in Time” by Ian McEwan.
The viewer is immediately drawn in by the film’s meticulous attention to detail as it runs for 73 minutes. The audience for “Petite Maman” are people who have experienced a profound and clear separation from the people they love in the world. The plot originates in the author’s head and, at times, is resolved in a single stroke.
In this one, Josephine Sanz plays the role of Nelly, an eight-year-old girl who, while walking through the woods one day by herself, comes face to face with a younger version of her mother, Marion (played by Sanz’s twin sister, Gabrielle), and the two gradually form a bond about life, death, grief, and companionship.
It gives off a fundamentally false impression, the dialogue is terrible (“You didn’t invent my sadness,” a child of eight years old says), and it identifies itself as the kind of movie that a world that has recovered from a pandemic will invariably forget about. Which, all things considered, is probably for the best.
For instance, there is a scene in the movie in which a line of dialogue that is both straightforward and profound is spoken. It goes as follows: “Secrets are not just things we hide from each other, but things we never find anyone to share them with.” It would appear that gradually getting alone and silent opens up a whole new universe of mysteries..
10. Triangle Of Sadness (2022)
A gloomy satire on the lives of extremely wealthy individuals, who are depicted as living in a world that is fast-paced, fake, and purposefully vulgar slogans.
Exciting moments include the conversation between the girl and the boy about dinner money, the girl’s admission that she played along with the boy knowing that she was doing so, the duel between the captain and the passenger, and the communist and anti-communist slogans that are yelled at each other. At Cannes 2022, the jury awarded the Golden Palm to the film “Triangle of Sorrow.”
Ruben Ostlund is back with his most ambitious project to date, which is a movie that attempts to illustrate the dehumanizing essence of free market capitalism through one-liners, Woody Harrelson, and the kind of gross-out gags that send sensitive Cannes critics fleeing from the auditorium.
Ruben Ostlund is a Swedish firebrand film director. The movie is an entertaining and engaging fable about the lives of the mega-rich, which takes place frequently on a mega-yacht. After all was said and done, it was deserving enough to earn Ostlund a rare second Palme d’Or.
